Why are we meeting?

If you have to ask that then you don’t truly understand networking in its most optimal form.

One of the ways in which I network is through a group called BNI or Business Network International and was founded by Ivan Misner. Each weekly meeting is structured such that the first thing discussed is the purpose and overview of BNI. Some of the best explanations I have heard state that members come together to train each other of how to become an extension of their sales force.

Within BNI there are multiple layers of referrals. A tier 1 is group members doing business with members. A tier 2 is a members referral to a prospect outside the group. And so on it goes.

So, why am I meeting you? Because you never know who knows somebody that knows any person who has a cousin that needs two million of your product. The true power in a company is in the hands of the CEO’s assistant. Remember what happens when you assume?

Maybe lunch with a junior account executive isn’t the optimal person to connect with. But just maybe they know who is your target market. So GoGrabLunch and stop judging the book by their titles.
