Up against a juggernaut

Every start-up has an 800 pound gorilla that they are up against. Ours happens to be a juggernaut that will not be going away anytime soon.
The team at GoGrabLunch.com has recently submitted our site to two East Tennessee start-up competitions.
Today one of the judges had some preliminary questions for us. Apparently we had them believing that our team was disregarding social media as a tremendous factor, and probably competitor, to be wary of.
I suppose I should explain why we half halfheartedly profess to be “anti social media”.
Truthfully we completely understand the pull and benefits of social media through sites like Twitter and Facebook. In fact, as I explained to the the start-up judge, our site is in 41 countries because of social media and it’s reach. What more of a testimonial do you need?
The issue is that we are not just a compliment to networking efforts through social media, but also a competitor. While you might not consider it to be direct competition our site is never the less a way to meet others that can be accomplished in a variety of ways. And here in lies the problem.
People only have enough attention span to regularly participate in two or three networking activities.
I won’t even bother to make the case for face to face networking with other business professionals through our site. What I will do is suggest you give us a try. Maybe you have met someone of quality through Twitter or LinkedIn such that you would like to take the relationship to the next level. What better way to connect face to face, one on one than to go grab lunch?
