Are you a networking conduit?

Today I attended a networking event put on by the Knoxville Chamber called Schmoozapalooza. They have been running this event at least annually and this year intend to do it bi-annually. It is a very well attended event and seems to bring out the best in people in terms of networking.

I was very fortunate to know quite a lot of my fellow attendees today. What I noticed is that I spent most of my time connecting one professional to another. I would call this being a networking conduit. The value in being a conduit is the goodwill that it tends to create, assuming that the introductions you help create turn out beneficial to others.

This can also be a very effective way for people uncomfortable with carrying on lengthy conversations to segue into the background of a discussion.
