The message behind the article was quite good as well. In it the author points to the difference between business contacts, or friends, and business contracts, or people that actually do business with one another.
I have to admit that I agree with the author. In my experience professional friendships lose their luster over time when there is a lack of mutual benefit, i.e. financial gain.
So how do you avoid this? Understand ahead of time what both parties honestly want to gain out of the relationship. I say this often, transparency can be a very freeing thing.
